I am living on Abingdon Road

Yesterday abingdon boys school released their second full length album entitled ABINGDON ROAD. There are two editions for this album, a regular and a limited one in which there is also a DVD included.

Regular Edition
Limited Edition

The photo shoot for the regular edition front cover has taken place in Abingdon Road which is the main arterial road to the south of the city of Oxford. The time frame presumably is between 12-13th November 2009 when the band travelled in England for their London concert. I can only imagine the look on the face of the local residents watching four Japanese guys wearing tight jeans, Dr. Martens boots, school-like blazers, and the Busby (!) posing in front of the Public House!!!

Moving on to the musical part. The album features 14 tracks from which 7 are brand new, while the rest have been previously released in various singles and a tribute compilation. It’s quite noteworthy that there are 2 new songs with Japanese title, given that the band enjoys having English titles for their tracks.

Tracklist
1. STRENGTH.
2. PINEAPPLE ARMY
3. and I love...
4. JAP
5. 蒼焔 (SOUEN) feat. BASI, Sakkon, FUNKYMIC from Insist; Blue Flame)
6. 潮騒 (Shiosai)
7. From Dusk Till Dawn -INCH UP-
8. Siren
9. BLADE CHORD
10. キミノウタ (Kimi no Uta)
11. Sweetest Coma Again (LUNA SEA's cover)
12. Gold Eclipse
13. Valkyrie -Lioleia Mix-
14. nocturne

This release is following the well known and beloved EBISU pattern. Meaning explosive rhythm and well knitted melodies. Once again abs managed to put together different music styles from classic rock and metal to hip-hop and techno and produce a great outcome. All the new tracks are great and alongside with the previously released ones, add up to an amazing CD. My personal favorite is PINEAPPLE ARMY.

Breaking it down in three words, THIS ALBUM ROCKS!!!

I never really liked this band to be honest and this new album is no exception (besides キミノウタ that was the opening for Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 and is a decent song) but nevertheless A.B.S. is a great band to check out if someone is dwelling into the japanese rock scene.
Another nice trivia that i read in Wikipedia is that the Abingdon School, from where they took their name is an "all-male school where British rock band Radiohead was established". :)

I hate you so much right now.
Μη με παίρνεις στα σοβαρά, απλώς ζηλεύω. Πολύ.
